Myoskeletal Alignment Therapy
FAQs

  • Because each individual has different needs, no treatment is the same. We incorporate several approaches in a Myoskeletal Alignment Therapy treatment including, but not limited to:

    • Muscle testing
    • Joint mobilization
    • Neuromuscular therapy
    • Muscle energy techniques
    • Myofascial release
    • Positional release
    • Trigger point therapy
    • Active resistance stretching
    • And other techniques

The treatment may use a few or all of these techniques in each visit, which lasts approximately 30 minutes.

After your treatment, we commonly use interferential stim, which is a type of electrical frequency of alternating currents to applied to injured muscles and joints. Interferential stimulation is believed to reduce pain, decrease swelling/edema, and increase blood circulation in damaged tissues, thus stimulating repair.

  • Myoskeletal Alignment Therapy assists in the release of restricted muscle and joint complexes. After your treatment, it is very normal to feel discomfort and/or soreness. This comes from the neuromuscular activation of inhibited muscles, perhaps for the first time in a long time.

    STRETCH and/or EXERCISE
After your visit, it may be recommended that you do some stretches and/or exercises to keep good range of motion and ensure adequate blood flow to the muscles.

    HYDRATE. HYDRATE. HYDRATE.
We ALWAYS suggest an increase in water intake after a session. This will help your muscles, tissues, and joint capsules flush out stagnant blood accumulation as well as eliminate or minimize any dehydration-related discomfort.

    FOLLOW UP for FURTHER IMPROVEMENT
Follow-up appointments are made by our Clinic Manager to provide you with the ideal treatment plan for your individual needs.

  • Every person is different and responds differently to treatment. It’s highly recommended to begin with 6 to 8 treatments and then to re-evaluate from there.

Many things can play a factor in your recovery including your participation, such as:

    — Your willingness to do the stretches and/or exercises between sessions that your therapist may have prescribed
    — Your diet
    — Your water intake
    — The initial severity level of your injury/issue

Our goal is to get you to a maintenance level and taper off the frequency of your treatments to every 4 to 6 weeks, in order to keep you aligned and to prevent future injury.

  • In addition to an ongoing commitment to staying current in their specialties with regular participation in Continuing Education, your therapist is highly trained in the areas of:

    • Structural Integration
    • Sports Injury Recovery
    • Biomechanical Dysfunction
    • Neuromuscular Re-education
    • Kinesio® Taping
    • Orthopedic Manual Therapy
    • Orthopedic Soft Tissue Pathology
